This article explains how to delete apps from Amazon Fire tablet to free up storage space.

The second option is to delete apps you want to get rid of by visiting the Play Store. Find and launch the Google Play Store app on your device, tap on your account profile image, go to Manage apps & device, select the Manage tab, and check the apps you want to delete. Then tap on the trash can icon and select Uninstall. After a few seconds, the apps will be deleted from your device.

Many users are worried that if they delete apps they have purchased from the Play Store, they will have to rebuy them to use them later. This, of course, will never happen. You can delete an app you have bought and then download it for free as many times as you want.

I removed the Arlo app and went to reinstall from the Google Play store, only to be shown a message under the "download" button reading "This app may not be optimized for your device" (photo of message on the right side attachment). This message appears both before downloading and after the download and install.

The Kindle fire doesn't have the Google Play store pre-installed on the device. Did you download the app from the Fire OS or the play store? As far as I know, the Google Play Store has to be manually installed with a few different files & apps may not function properly.

Did you buy this tablet used? Amazon does not sell their tablets with Google Play Store pre loaded. I personally have the Fire tablet & needed to install it through a separate process. After doing so, I was notified that apps may not perform properly or as they should, just like you experienced. Amazon Q&A from their website - Google Play Stor

To combat numerous icons in the Applications screen from pre-installed software, many Droid owners have discovered how to hide unused apps by disabling the software in the device settings. Disabling an app does not uninstall the app from the Droid. Disabling the app hides the icon from view in the Apps screen, and the program is not upgraded when updates become available. Unhide hidden apps by re-enabling them in the device settings.

Amazon wants you to use its services over competitors, so the Fire tablet range pushes these apps pretty hard. Fortunately, you can disable these apps by following the instructions below and using the Fire Toolbox. Note that instead of the Fire Toolbox deleting the applications completely, it disables them and hides them from view.

Enabling Game Mode on your supported device allows you to play games without distractions. Notifications from Alexa or other apps such as email and social networks are suppressed while you play games.

Another way to delete apps is via the iPhone Storage section of Settings. One of the benefits of this method is it is easy to pick the largest apps to remove if you are trying to recover space on your iPhone.

The Fire is an Android-based device, but Amazon has heavily modified the software to remove all traces of Google. That means it has its own app store, not the official Google Play store that has tens of thousands of more Android apps to choose from.

Thank you David Rothman for the workarounds! -slates/new-amazon-fire-tablet-os-update-stops-you-from-sideloading-appsI used Option #1 -when you get to the greyed out install page, put your Fire to sleep, then re-login. After installing all packages,I was able to launch the Google Play Store. Yeah!!!

I am having the same problem. Apps are downloaded but I need to search for them on the search bar. When I click on them in the recently used section O am given the option remove from home or uninstall. However they are not appearing on the home screen.

Apart from that, you get ultimate control over the pre-installed Amazon apps. Many users complain that Fire HDs have some unnecessary apps installed that they can not delete. By rooting your device, you can get rid of this problem.

The type of apps you can sideload vary on the Fire HD. Sideloading is often used to install apps that are not available in the official app store or marketplace, or to install apps from unofficial sources.

Overall, I was thrilled with the results. My Amazon Fire tablet now looked like a stock Android device, and it was much more personal and unique. Best of all, I had achieved this by simply changing the default launcher to my device (thanks to rooting the amazon fire tablet).

In late 2016, Apple released its long awaited TV app, which lets users access both movies and television shows from a range of content providers. Instead of having to go to different apps to access different programs, just go into the TV app. (Not all content can be accessed through the TV app. For example, Netflix, Amazon, and NatGeo Wild are not available. As of this writing, the TV app is only available in the United States.)

The Watch Now tab has two major headings, Up Next and Browse by Genre. The Up Next section lets you pick up where you left off in a movie or TV show. For example, I like the program "Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet" on Animal Planet. If I don't watch the most recent episode when it airs, it appears the next day in the Watch Now section. All I have to do is double tap on it and in a few seconds, the episode starts playing in the Animal Planet Go app. (If I didn't have the Animal Planet Go app on my phone, the TV app would send me to the App Store to get it.) If I did not have Animal Planet as part of my cable subscription, I would not have access to it. Since I do, I can watch it for free. If I wanted to watch the show and I didn't have the Animal Planet Go app, I could still purchase the episode from the iTunes store for $2.99. Which apps you can get depends on your cable or satellite subscription plan. See the section on the Store tab for more details.

The Browse by Genre section contains recommendations from Apple based on your apps and content history. Categories include Comedy, Documentary, and Action. Activating any of these genres brings up a list of suggested content. Double tapping on a suggestion will load information about the selected movie or show along with a "Play" button. If you've selected a TV program, you may be given a selection of seasons.

One of the most profound leaps in accessible reading has come with the near universal use of synthetic speech to read the products of the text and eBook industry, beginning with the simple text file versions of classic writings from Project Gutenberg and Bookshare, and commercialized for public use with the Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Apple iBooks. Most of these apps can read using your choice of the various voices available with VoiceOver. Voice Dream Reader also offers in-app purchases of other high-quality voices.

Most eBook iOS apps work with braille displays, but each takes a slightly different approach, so your settings may need to be changed to get the output you desire. Dixon devotes an entire chapter to using a braille display with each of the apps mentioned above. She also describes how to search and download .BRF books from the National Library Service and read them using the BARD Mobile app, which was optimized to offer an excellent braille reading experience.

That's right, we are listening to your comments on articles, reflecting on your questions about both mainstream and access technology, and hearing your thoughts and opinions on everything from the future of braille and braille technology, to video description, to television programming access, to frustrating and inaccessible apps and feature phones, to all the good, the bad, and the ugly with all things Windows, Apple, and Android. 2ff7e9595c
